Description

Control Room and the Controlled Environment (2019) names the typology that organises the present. The Control Room is the room of the 21st century: a space that operates through a ubiquitous sensory apparatus installed across the ground and far above it, feeding everything it gathers into a single computational system. The issue refuses to treat this as architecture in the conventional sense; it treats the Control Room as the abstracted space from which the world is now watched, modelled, and adjusted in real time. What follows is the controlled environment — a regime in which inhabitation has been replaced by monitoring as the basic spatial relation, and the difference between a room and the world it tracks begins to dissolve. It is the figure through which Silicity Protocols first names the operative space from which the new world is governed.
